| イベント詳細 | Low-Earth orbit is experiencing an exponential increase in the number of active satellites and other space debris. This increases the risk of catastrophic collisions between objects. Preventing collisions requires accurate knowledge of the environmental conditions in the space environment, including developing space weather forecasts. This presentation will overview how conditions in space impact satellites and debris, and the need to better understand the space environment to prevent catastrophic satellite collisions. The presentation will also detail the sources of variations in the space environment, explaining how the Sun and terrestrial weather can impact satellite orbits. This presentation will conclude by overviewing the development and recent progress of numerical models of Earth's space environment, which are essential to advancing space weather forecasting capabilities. |
