| イベント詳細 | Volcanoes are highly dynamic systems that generate a wide variety of seismic signals. Long-period earthquakes and tremors comprise one of the two main classes of volcanic seismic activity. Deep long-period (DLP) earthquakes are particularly interesting because they are usually attributed to processes occurring in the deep roots of magma plumbing systems close to the crust-mantle boundary. Also, the DLP seismicity is often considered a manifestation of deep magmatic reactivation and a possible early precursor to eruptions. DLP earthquakes have been observed at different volcanoes, but the physical mechanism of their generation is still not fully understood. In this presentation, after an introduction, I will present my past results on studying the DLP seismicity beneath the Klyuchevskoy volcano group (KVG) in Kamchatka. The KVG is known for its exceptional level and diversity of volcanic activity, which makes this region a natural laboratory to study and advance volcano seismology. Then I will present a state-of-the-art on DLP seismicity in Kyushu, where major active volcanoes of Japan are located. We will discuss the current challenges and potential work that can be done. |
