イベント詳細 | 講師:土井 正男(北京航空航天大学) 概要:Droplets placed on a substrate show various complex and intriguing motions under the action of gravity, surface tension, and wetting energy of the substrate etc. For example an oil droplet spreads on a dish when it is placed on the dish, starts to move if the dish is tilted, breaks up into smaller droplets, or merges together to form a bigger droplet. Theoretical analysis for such phenomena is difficult since it involves the problem of moving boundary and the singularity at the contact line. Here I will show a simple method to analyze the phenomena. It is based on Onsager principle [1]. It is an approximate method, but avoids the difficulty in the conventional hydrodynamic approach. The simplicity of the method allows us to treat fairly complex problems such as a) spreading of evaporating droplet on a substrate, and deposition patterns left on the substrate[2]. b) sliding down of droplet on an inclined substrate[3] c) motion induced by evaporating droplet[4] REFERENCES [1] Masao Doi, Soft Matter Physics, Oxford University Press, p1-257 (2013).
